Position Summary
Will represent the hospital in the acquisition of goods and services required to assure smooth operation and patients’ satisfaction. The primary objective is to source and obtain the products and services that must be obtained externally. As also Sr. Buyer will evaluate, and determine the best supplier, value and delivery of those products and services.
Summary of Main Duties
- Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital – Sharjah (UHS)
- Complies with all UHS policies and procedures and fire regulations
- Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards
- Participates in commissioning assigned areas and associated Clinical areas
- Purchases material for inventory and non-stock items for hospitals’ departments and end- users requests.
- Purchases equipment’s, materials and others related to mechanical, electrical and civil works.
- Receives and evaluates tender bids and regular price quotations.
- Resolves errors on purchase orders as required.
Responsibilities
- Monitors price increases and communicating changes as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by HOD when needed.
- Self-development participate in internal orientation, mandatory, ongoing education programs Attend external conferences, workshops, seminars and courses that will enhance and maintain a current knowledge base
- Works any shift as per the duty roster of the Materials Management Department when designated
- The employment terms and conditions for this position are specified in the individuals Employment Contract
Position Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, civil), facilities management, construction management or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the elements of cost in construction and maintenance including the determination of unit cost records.
- Knowledge of the development and use of contracts, estimates, and specifications
Position criteria Other Skills/Abilities
- Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
- Must be flexible to support 24/7-hour facility, when required.
- Experience in managing external contractors
- Knowledge of building processes and construction principles
Ability to analyze and solve complex and technical problems, and to evaluate alternative approaches in their resolution
