Position Summary

Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the management and performance of all pharmacy services and ensures that the department meets all legal, accreditation, governmental requirements and complies with all corporate policies, procedures, codes and standards in order to develop and maintain efficient, high quality pharmacy services. Pharmacy Manager is represents pharmacy to areas such as but not limited to: administration, MOH, and the general public.
 

Summary of Main Duties

•    Consistently complies with UHS policies, procedures and practices.
•    Lead the development and approval of the department strategic plan, annual budget and capital requirements.
•    Ensure that the strategic plan of the department is aligned with that of the hospital. 
•    Monitor the department’s performance as well as staff

•    Oversee the quality of patient care and the medication management process.
•    Conduct annual appraisal of staff and oversee staff appraisal process.
•    Plan and develop policies that guide the medication management process.
•    Make recommendations regarding staff qualifications, privileges, and scheduling and staffing.
•    Make recommendations on equipment and other resources required for the department.
•    Ensure that the work environment meets acceptable, approved safety standards.
•    Responsible for managing performance metrics of the department.
•    Oversees the daily activities associated with medication dispensing and preparation or other key job responsibilities.
•    Oversees the selection, orientation, evaluation, and discipline of staff.
•    Provides administrative support and assistance to all pharmacy staff.
•    Oversees the initiation and implementation of pharmacy projects.
•    Represents pharmacy on various hospital committees and meetings. 
•    Participates in pharmacy programs, committees, and staff meetings.
•    Participates in the orientation and training of new employees.
•    Shares information appropriately with pharmacy team.
•    Communicates appropriately to all clients (example: telephone etiquette, customer service).
•    Supports good, professional communication among all healthcare providers involved in the medication management process.
•    Supports ethical and professional practice.
•    Other related duties as assigned. 

 

Responsibilities

Position Requirements/Qualifications

Education:  BSc degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of 
                      pharmacy (minimum)
Experience:  NLT 10 years as a hospital pharmacist. (NLT 8 years of 
                      MSc, PhD or Pharm D). NLT 3 years of which in a senior
                       position in a short-term acute care hospital.
Certification and other requirements:  Must have basic computer skills, ability to communicate Clearly, knowledge in drug information and research.  Ability to provide direction for pharmacy support staff.

Licenses/Registration
•    Must have valid UAE SHA Evaluation
