Position Summary
Specialist Interventional Pain Management/Anesthetist
Being one of the clinical roles within the Clinical Services of the hospital, the position will require a person who has practiced for at least 3 years of Clinical Experience Beyond Completion of Internship, a minimum 3 years after the master or directly after the Board or equivalent. It is a pivotal role in the establishment of services at the hospital to ensure services are at an International standard and to meet and exceed accreditation standards. The Doctor should obtain the appropriate evaluation/License.
Summary of Main Duties
- Admit and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions, ensuring complete and accurate medical documentation (history, physical examination, admission notes, and integrated care plans).
- Conduct comprehensive pain assessments and formulate individualized pain management plans.
- Initiate, review, and interpret appropriate diagnostic investigations.
- Prescribe and manage pharmacological pain therapies in line with best clinical practice.
- Perform interventional pain procedures in accordance with approved clinical privileges, including but not limited to:
- Epidural and spinal injections
- Nerve blocks
- Facet joint injections
- Radiofrequency ablation
- Trigger point injections
- Other image-guided pain procedures as privileged
- Obtain informed consent prior to all procedures and ensure patient education regarding risks, benefits, and alternatives.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient pain management consultations.
Responsibilities
- Attend and conduct pain management clinics as scheduled.
- Perform daily ward rounds for admitted patients and participate in consultant/senior staff rounds as required.
- Follow up investigation results and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Respond to consultation requests from Emergency Department and other specialties.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records in compliance with hospital policy and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, clinical audits, and compliance with JCI and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and adhere to approved clinical pathways, guidelines, and pain management protocols.
- Attend departmental meetings, medical staff conferences, and hospital committees as requested.
- Maintain professional conduct and effective communication with patients, families, and hospital staff at all times.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Consultant or Head of Department.

• American Specialty Board or equivalent in accordance with MOH requirements.
• 5 year experience following board certification in an active, acute care accredited institution or equivalent.
